Amy is accepting new clients ages 12 on up.
Amy graduated from UND with a Master’s in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis on community counseling. Her Bachelor’s degree is in psychology from Moorhead State University – Now University of Minnesota Moorhead. Her internship was at Rape and Abuse Crisis Center. She started working at Lakeland Mental Health Center before she gradated from MSU and initially did reception work and intakes. She moved on to doing case management with youth and adults. After graduate school, Amy did home-based therapy and school based groups in the elementary school in Barnesville and Hawley. After getting her license, she worked at Youthworks doing family, individual, and group therapy for at risk youth. She has been at Southeast Human Service Center since November 2009. She started in RIS (Regional Intervention Services, which provider crisis intervention services 24/7. For the last 10+ years she has worked in Central Assessment providing integrated assessment (both mental health diagnostic assessment and substance use evaluations), crisis therapy, and outreach services to engage those struggling with serious mental illness and substance use issues. She has done some groups for chronic pain management too. She enjoys being able to come along side of others to help them through a difficult time through therapy. She has also enjoyed teaching other clinicians and has provided assessment training at Southeast.
Amy is a member of Sts. Anne and Joachim. She is a cradle Catholic, though she has had some time away from the Church. She is involved in Adoration at her church and is part of Via Maria and Well Read Mom. She enjoys spending time with friends, learning about her faith and how to grow in it, reading, singing, going to concerts, road trips, learning new things and trying new foods.
